Terri:

Can you try running the aquifers with enough samples to get one or more
alternates? There is no rush on this. I am going to go on extended leave
starting July 3. I won't be back in the office until August 4. So
whenever you can get to this is OK - no rush.

When you do get it done can you send the data to James Kliewer here in our
office. James is a student that I have working on this project. I will
let him know what you are doing and give him a heads up. His email is:
jkliewe@usgs.gov.

Thanks!

Mike

Re: Question

We decided not to select alternates because it would decrease thenumber of
selected sites. There are probably enough points in a couple of the
aquifers to get at least 1 alternate but not in others. I can try to
rerun the selection with alternates if you want.

Another alternative would be to eliminate the ones that you can't sample
due to permissions and then do the selection again -- do you think that
would be statistically valid?

I am going to be out of the office starting tomorrow until July 7. I am
taking leave tomorrow and then I have jury duty the next week. If I don't
get selected for a jury, I'll be working from home so I might be able to
do this for you next week but I can't promise.

Question

Terri:

Thanks again for helping me with this data. I was wondering if it was
possible during the selection to select any alternate sites. Or did I
tell you not to do this? I can't remember. Maybe the points were too far
apart for alternates to be selected.

The problem we are encountering is that a fair number of the systems we
contact are not available or refuse to help us. So it would be best if we
could get some alternates for some of the sites. Were you able select
alternates in this latest analysis?

Mike

Re: Another mistake

Hi Mike.

Attached is the new spreadsheet showing selected PS wells. I got 30 sites
for all aquifers (using 1,000 m exclusion radius and no alternates)
[attachment "selected_sites06032008.xls" deleted by Michael J
Moran/WRD/USGS/DOI]

I put a zip file (simplerandomselect06032008.zip) of the spreadsheet other
files (geodatabase, map document, report files, map jpgs, etc) into ftp
like before:
ftp://ftpint.usgs.gov/private/er/il/urbana/NAWQA/

Please let me know if you need anything else.

Another mistake

Hi Terri:

I made another mistake on my MTBE data. I had problems with data from New
Hampshire. I fixed it now and there is more data.

Can you run the random selection one more time? I'm real sorry about
this. I promise this is the last time!

The Excel file is attached. From the summary sheet, it looks like you
only need to select from the same 5 PAs again; emeso, glac, necrys, nacp,
and pied. Let me know if you need anything.

Mike
